No, I didn't. I have now. Same criticisms apply.
What I think your last point means is that web pages don't have the same interactivity as virtual fairs and my comment that a simple list of (well-maintained) recruiter twitter feeds for graduates to follow on an ongoing basis is just a web page. Respectfully, I think you've missed my point! If I'm a graduate and I'm following the dozen or so employers I'm interested in on twitter, why would I be interested in a virtual fair? And isn't it a lot cheaper for the employer to manage? I also note that the above link is to a demo site and that you work for the company who builds the software...Would love to know what employers think the benefits are compared to other recruiting channels...

I just read your blog about Virtual Job Fairs. Did you check http://tr.im/oL45? A webpage is not a Virtual Fair.

I'm struggling with this right now as I've begun Twittering in addition to Facebooking. (Did I just make up a word?) I've used FB purely socially, but am trying to restrict Twitter to work-related things, which is difficult because both intersect with each other and my personal blog, not to mention LinkedIn, which is definitely work-only.

I feel myself beginning to not care so much about keeping the worlds separate per se, but I feel that if someone sees some flippant tweet of mine, it could adversely affect their perception of me vis-a-vis my professionalism. Not that I'm saying anything truly offensive, but merely personal or political or whatever.

[...] Radiohead grabbed a lot of headlines last year by releasing In Rainbows as a pay-what-you-want (even if that meant you took it for free) download. By erasing the line between music production and music distribution, the band prompted everyone from industry executives to has-been rockers to wring their hands and wax poetic about an inevitable music-industry death spiral.
Thanks for the Plings mention. Careerstagged looks interesting, and would be good to look at how tags could be shared between careers and interests...

I've edited several books touching on social capital recently. One criticized Putnam's assertions pretty strongly (re: the US). Another asserts that informal networks, NGOs, and local social capital are what will save us all from (insert your favorite apocalyptic problem).

I'm starting to wonder if all sociology and anthropology manuscripts are required by law to cite Bourdieu. Though I suppose it's a norm and not a law. See? I'm paying attention.

Thanks, Tim. Some useful points there, though more focused on charities than educational or government type organisations. Unfortunately, we can't troll for donations (wish we could in the current climate)!

A good friend of my mom's was a VP at WaMu and was wrongfully terminated for whistle-blowing about some of their bad construction loans. They had to pay her $1 million in damages. I'm not surprised it's gone this far.

All I can say is, thank you JP Morgan Chase, for without you, the FDIC change jar would be empty.
