People I spammed all those months ago about Naymz, I’m sorry. It seemed like a good idea – Bruce Sterling style reputation engine (can someone explain why Distraction, 1998 and its vision of a reputation economy isn’t at the centre of all debates about social networking?) targeted social networking and so on – but like this commentator, I got as far as being asked for money for a ‘free service’ before I wandered off (“Upgrade for FREE” = “Upgrade for $9.95 a month, first month FREE”). And trying to do anything with the site without being hassled by pushy “Upgrade Now!” notices felt way too labour intensive. So, like others before me, I simply walked. I couldn’t even be bothered to go over and delete my account.
But I have now.
